However, along the way, we discover the Skysea wasn't vaporized but scattered like Jenga blocks. These fragments offer a wide array of optional missions for a limited time only, with Espers standing by to take our calls.

Note: I've already posted the next bit if you wanna skip to Actual Plot, but I'll be tweaking that post a bit more to Make It Funnier.
Now that that's out of the way, Clan Potholder can get on with the business of trying and failing to save the world. Go us!

Then the party wearied of Penelo's reminders that we had a job to do. So now we're back on the Path of Plot Advancement, chasing after rumors of the Judge of Wings.

And now it’s time to visit the Skysea on a new and exciting island!

Good times.
Unfortunately, after an End of Act One climax, there is often a lull, and boy does this game want to lull us into a false sense of irritability. So I'm afraid this installment only has a brief segment of plot before Tomaj hijacks the story for airship remodeling and sidequests. I'll warn you when we get there, in case you want to skip ahead. (On the other hand, you'll miss out on what happens when I'm given the power to name custom weapons... see example below).
(On with the playthrough!)

But now it's time to catch up on the Path of Plot Advancement, where major speed bumps await. So let's hurry over to that flag at the Fane of Tehp Qul and get this angst on the road.

Llyud says we need to hurry into the Fane of Something Vaguely Egyptian-Sounding to stop more sky pirates from desecrating the auralith (bigass magical crystal) at the heart of sky island #2. However, Tomaj's notice board has been bleeping at us about sidequests that opened up back on sky island #1.

Should we hurry on to the Path of Plot Advancement? Or indulge in Sidequests Before Saving the World? Well, a little bird told me that Revenant Wings sidequests often evaporate before the next chapter. And the current chapter has the ominous name of "What Goes Up..." Look. I wasn't born yesterday. I recognize an RPG Point of No Return when I see it.
Therefore, I'm going back to Zephyr Island one more time to perform pest control and treasure mop-up duty. I'm sure the evil sky pirates will play cribbage or something until we return.

Apr. 2nd, 2016 05:33 pmAnd I am loving its retro-gamer, lightweight-and-fluff, pixellated tinyscreen ass, especially since I can scale up the graphics to a size I can actually see. It's just cute.

Let's Play Final Fantasy X: Djose Temple
Jun. 5th, 2015 05:38 pmLast time year on my FFX Liveblog, Tidus and friends slogged along the Djose Angst Road commiserating with survivors of Operation Mi’ihen. Condescending yet well-intentioned priests mingled with the walking wounded, dispensing healing and absolution, oblivious to their own Maesters’ subtle stage management of the entire fiasco.

Sorry, no room in FFX for a Floating Continent... will some floating rocks do? [X]

Before we flee into the Temple of SPARKY (as my father named Ixion) to escape rampaging hopper monkeys, let me backtrack and add some thinky thoughts about the Luzzu & Gatta arc...

It’s been so long since I posted those that I’d almost forgotten some of the themes I was trying to highlight during my playthrough.
Lemme recap some of these themes. [SPOILERS!]

What a PERFECT time to start a new game playthrough!

Zencribnotes on Tumblr inspired me to try Final Fantasy Dimensions again. It's an iPad/Android native Final Fantasy game that came out in 2010. When I last tackled it, I couldn't fully appreciate how much it was a homage to the early FFs. Now, by golly, I'm going to play Final Fantasy Nostalgia Bingo, because that's the main virtue of this game.
Posted on my Let's Play Final Fantasy Blog -->
(but feel free to comment here)
In the most recent two episodes, Cloud has given Sephiroth the Black Materia, punched Aeris while possessed, nearly cut her in two while possessed, and stood there like a man frozen in corbomite while Sephiroth performed Death From Above.
Let's pause for a moment to celebrate the hoary Final Fantasy tradition of playing into enemy hands.
- FFI: Retrieve a magical artifact for a villain masquerading as an imposter king!
- FFII: Rescue an imposter Princess Hilda and take her back to the rebel base!
- FFIII: Let an enemy steal two magical artifacts while we're returning the one he stole earlier!
- FFIV: Steal a crystal and slaughter innocents on our imposter king's orders! Let more crystals fall into enemy hands on purpose or via a possessed friend!
- FFV: Help possessed Dad destroy crystal for the enemy! Get captured so as to be used as hostages by enemy!
- FFVI: Open the Sealed Gate so the enemy can break in and kill/drain all the Espers and destroy the world!

But now that we've handed Sephiroth the Black Materia on a platter and let Aeris die, there's no way we could screw up anything else, is there? I mean, it's not like we could give him the Black Materia again, right? Ahahaha.
Well then. While Cloud was angsting over Aeris' bloodless body, Sephiroth idly mentioned his upcoming journey to the Northern Crater. Naturally, we must accept this veiled invitation.

We drag our reluctant tails back to the Gold Saucer. Speaking of which, I missed a spiffy FMV during our first visit, when I was trying to take Aeris around for a date. Check out the Gondola ride starting around 11:00.
Sorry, Aeris. Let's pretend my Cloud took you on that date earlier, okay? You're allowed to call me cheesebrain.
All right, back in the present...

Then we headed into the mountains north of Nibelheim where—

AUUUGH I haven't saved in an hour blammmity blam blam flail flail hack slash bite maul... oh. Oops. There was a really powerful blue magic spell that we could've learned from this thing, wasn't there?
Moving right along...
