Yuck.

Microsoft's putting out a huge bid to buy Yahoo.

Yahoo! has not thrilled me anyway over the last few years with some of the things they've done, but I've had personal websites on Geocities since 1996, and I've got all these links to them and such.

Plus the AuronLu Shrine is there.

It may be time to move to a mirror site. I... do... not... like... Microsquat, even if I do still use Word (rarely... I prefer the basic Mac text editor for anything that doesn't require footnotes and pagination.)

Googlepages? Angelfire wasn't bad back in the day when I was there, either.

If you're looking for good paid hosting, I recommend Lunarpages. They're inexpensive, excellent uptime, customer service is responsive, and I've only had one issue with them in three years which was fairly easily resolved. However, to get the best price you do have to pay a year up front, which is kind of lame.

I had geocities too way before yahoo bought them out, which caused a lot of havoc for me because I was forced to change linkage and my username stuff because some jerkoff already had the name at yahoo that I was using at geocities so i was the one forced to change. :p

When I heard the news about Microsoft, my first thought was to my domain which I access and update through yahoo's services so I'm concerned about what may come of this. I'm making a website/forum thing for hubby's business and we're contemplating hosting our own server anyway so if we get that moving soon I'll probably just host everything there.
