Have you ever written, rewritten, and rewritten a section so often that you can't tell if you've sucked all the juice out of it or polished it?

I've been running over the same set of tracks for two weeks now. I'd hoped being mostly-gone a few days would help, but I just sat back in the saddle and found the whole chapter curiously flat, like a carving one has kept whittling until one's peeled away too much wood.

Yes. I have. This week must be a bad one for writing. See my most recent entry, which I made before I read this one!

When I am in those situations, I usually hammer it out as complete as possible, then let it simmer for a few hours or a few days or a few decades and attack it again.

Also, I find an open window helps.

And red wine, of course. :)

aww is it the same section we've discussed before? You still stuck on what you want to decide to do? *huggles*

Yep, that's the one. I know what I want to do, I'm just having trouble making it into beautiful prose instead of cliché ridden.
