"The guy with the weird hand"

I showed Mom the opening sequence of FFX up through the end of the "We called it Sin" bit and the beginning of the first battle. She liked Tidus, thought Auron was creepy as all get out with his "weird hand", and was fairly convinced he'd summoned the big tidal wave to wipe out the city.

I swear, when I first saw him, I thought he looked like a cool cookie. Did anyone else think he was sinister? Okay, yes, I thought he looked a bit sinister, but in that "I am Batman" sort of way.

I had the whole "is he leading that thing" talk with myself too first time I played.
My first impression was:
Wow, looking good... nice fashion sense, injured (leading me to assume obviously troubled past), rather strapping and with questionable intentions... I like this man already.
Then I heard the cloaked anguish and years of strain in that voice (really that voice actor pulled it off fantastically) and I fell into my girly puddle, reset and watched it all again!

When I first turned the game on, I thought that he probably was calling whatever it was coming out of the ocean. Creeped me out!

BTW, was looking to buy a 12" tall Auron statue to go stand next to my Lulu statue of similar height. HOWEVER! They are so freaking rare I guess they run somewhere around $200-$300!!!!! I got my Lulu on Ebay for like $60. eeeeeep!
