... it suddenly occurs to me that the PS3/Vita remaster of FFX means we'll finally see those Auron / Braska / Jecht flashback scenes with realistic-looking models. (Well, sort of. It's still not going to be FFXIII level graphics, but at least it'll be like the high-poly models in the original game.)

Which means that godawful scream that young!Auron gives during his CROWNING MOMENT OF STUPID / AWESOME will have visuals to accompany it.

That's gonna... hurt to see.

I'm still curious if they'll get anyone to re-record their lines. Probably not, but I keep hoping they'll give Hedy Buress a chance to fix her dreadful Shatnering, since that was an artifact of trying to lip synch.

....And in my continuing pursuit of all things voice acting, I have made a few more discoveries. Many of them you already know, of course.

I mostly do this to find the jaw-dropping juxtapositions and cute RL tie-ins like Kytes being the son of Elma and Luzzu (and Baralai and Gippal being brothers; no wonder I had so much trouble telling their voices apart in the under-Bevelle confrontation scene.)

My newest discoveries are Rosso the Crimson = Hope's Mom; Brother = Al-Cid Margrace. (owlmoose, did you know that?!!)

... and a big chunk of the cast of FFX were first tapped for Spirits Within. That's how they found Auron, for certain (Major Elliot); Seymour, Elma, Wakka, Luzzu, and a ton of other folks had minor parts.

In the twelve years since FFX (and TSW), most of these voice actors have developed some very storied résumés, but it's great to see so many of them returning for other FF titles.

Agreed. I meant to spend more time on that "Other" column, then got lazy.

Incidentally, my mother really enjoyed watching Vayne Solidor as Oberon / Theseus at the Utah Shakespeare Festival. In real life, he looks disconcertingly like Jecht!

My sister would love this. She always knows this stuff. I will be watching some new cartoon or anime or playing some new game and she'll be like, oh yeah that's blah de blah who did the voice of *rattles off five other roles only 2 of which I have ever heard of.* I don't know how she manages to keep it all straight, but it certainly is interesting.

Regarding Brother and Al-Cid... no, I did not know that, and I'm not sure how to feel about it. ;) Someone (maybe vieralynn) once told me that Al-Cid was originally meant to be a smaller role, but then a well-beloved Japanese VA signed on for the part and they decided to expand it.
