I was just checking to see why some Russian fanblog was linking to some of my Squidoo pages, and I found this, obviously not by the blogger.

Spoilers, except it's so incomprehensible that I don't think it matters...

Yes, I realize everyone else has probably seen this meme already. I'm always late to the fandom party.

... the lesbians are diamonds in almost exactly the Utena/Anthy pose in the SKU opening.

This is almost enough to make me try the game.

I think the echo is deliberate, although I've seen Square use that yin/yang motif before.

Lightning (pink hair) is a lot more Juri than Utena, as she is a very prickly character, but I keep having the suspicion her uniform and gratuitous rose petal wind may owe something to Utena.

I keep wanting to tell you to try it, then remembering the parts of it you won't like.

This is a curate's egg of a game. There are serious flaws in it, and I don't think you'd like the ending.

But the female characters -- at least two of them -- are a heck of a lot better than anything else FF has produced, and they pass the Bechdel test with no trouble.

Rumor has it that Fang (black hair) was originally cast as a male character, but early on someone realized her relationship with her "partner" was more interesting if both were women.

Oh, and the ending is so important, even though half the time we never manage to finish games. :P :( I wish that game creators would see how well the lead women were received and take the good parts of the game and integrate them into another game that's got fewer flaws.
