Hey waitaminute. Am I dense, or is there a big gaping plot hole I never noticed before?

Kelk: ...Tell this court what possessed you to participate in such violence.
Yuna: Your Grace... The real traitor is Maester Seymour! He killed his father Jyscal with his own hands!
Kelk: What is this!
Seymour: (Nonchalant) Hmm? Hadn't you heard?
Yuna: Not only that... Maester Seymour is already dead!
Lulu: It is a summoner's sacred duty to send the souls of the departed to the Farplane! Yuna was only doing her job as a summoner!

I don't think Seymour was already dead when he and Yuna had their showdown in Macalania Temple. Saying "it's my duty to send him!" when you were responsible for his death is a little disingenuous.

Yuna had pressing reasons for doing what she did, but the following argument would fit the facts better:

Yuna: Your Grace... The real traitor is Maester Seymour! He killed his father Jyscal with his own hands!
Yuna: Not only that...but when I begged him to turn himself over to Yevon for judgment, he attacked me! In the heart of Macalania Temple, when I had just emerged from the Chamber of the Fayth!
Lulu: Yuna was only defending herself from being murdered like Lord Jyscal, and it was our sacred duty as guardians to protect her.

Maybe they're also referring to the events of the wedding? :/ I forget whether context rules that out completely, but.

Well, she's just been forced to marry him, so it's reasonable that his being dead would be on her mind--marriages in which one partner is dead are probably not valid, even in Spira.

Also, from an exterior perspective, these lines are meant to lead into the revelation that Mika, too, is dead.

Hah, I never noticed that. Even with Seymour not even denying killing his father, it didn't even matter. It's not like anyone seemed to care after it was mentioned anyways.

Maybe it's worded differently in the Japanese verson.

She isn't referring to the showdown at Macalania, but rather, at the present moment during the trial. Neither Yuna nor Lulu lied during the trial. The facts are thus: Seymour is the real traitor because he killed his father Lord Jyscal, a Maester of Yevon. He is an unsent and it is a summoner's duty to send the dead to the Farplane. Up until this point, only Maester Kelk does not know that Seymour is both his father's murderer as well as an unsent. Kinoc and Mika are okay with both concepts, thus they don't see a problem.
