I'm not offended not surprised that there would be a FFX fanfic out there with the following description:

"Yuna is a teenage priestess, unpopular and is anorexicbulimic, and in seeing her suffer, popular boy Tidus tries to help her out. A bet is finally made to make her prom queen and his...wife? AU TidusxYuna Read and review, please! Chapter 13 up!"

chapter 13??!!!
60,000+ words??!!!

But here's the kicker. NINETY FIVE GUSHING REVIEWS.

Okay, call me petty and small, but I can't believe I'm getting 1 or 2 reviews or, say, 5 at most -- and same thing with all the other skilled writers I know -- when disgusting garbage like THAT gets a cult following.

I'm often left wondering why people think it's that easy to help anorexics/bulimics. I mean, I've been trying to help someone for... most of my life. And. Well. She isn't dead yet, but I don't call that alive, either. :| Holding back someone's hair while they puke, putting your arms around them while they're so thin that if you had enough joints your arms would go round at least twice... I do not understand why this is a situation people are capable of romanticising.

And it makes me want to write/finish that angstfic of mine where Squall is anorexic and refuses to be fixed.

...[/rant] Sorry.

Of course just because something is popular doesn't make it good. I mean, look at the Backstreet Boys.

See, it makes me just want to boot said imbeciles in the head. Or possibly feed them to Scylla.

Fandom is deeply, deeply unfair. Feedback is based largely on how popular the pairing is (and if there isn't one, woe to you), how many sappy cliches you hit, and how many friends you already have.

Which doesn't mean we have to put up with it. *fires up flamethrower*

THIS IS WHAT BOTHERS ME ABOUT FANDOM.

My own six chapter story, lovingly polished until my eyes bleed, has about 20 chapters and it's been up since last year.

Also, my Reno/Yuna Kingdom Hearts AU has only gotten one after several weeks. And I'm proud of the crackyness, dammit!

Misery attracts misery?

No, FANBRATS ATTRACT MORE FANBRATS.

While we good authors have to seek out our fellows ourselves. XD

Yessssss. Exactly.

Of course, I primarily write in a teensy-tiny fandom that is pretty much shrinking constantly because the anime is 10 years old. And I'm fairly well-known in a teensy-tiny corner of that fandom, and people are (re)discovering my giant saga of doom all the time. But the one foray I made into Harry Potter fandom is largely unloved and unrecognized. Though, at least, the person we wrote the story for enjoyed it.
