Okay, a perfect day to make up for many days of depression. Birds have been singing outside all day*** (or squawking -- hello, Mexican green parrots!), my jasmine bush is perfuming the world, the wind is blowing and making my wind chimes jingle, and I sat down in the kitchen looking out at my very-disheveled garden and working on dissertation.

Chapter 40 of LHaD is finished, or finished-but-awaiting-one-final-readthrough to see if I want to tweak any wording before posting. I told myself I couldn't post it until I'd achieved a useful chunk of dissertation, and I have.

So I log in to post chapter 40.

And then I find THIS painting by [livejournal.com profile] cumuluscastle , of Lulu's dream-garden in Love Her and Despair. I hope she won't mind my hotlinking. Click to see original, full-sized, gorgeous picture!

I am stunned and happy and awed by this painting.

And now, I'm going to be bad. Rather than post Chapter 40 now, I'm gonna watch the Blu-Ray Advent Children I just got (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] missjoongie ) !!! and then do one more editing pass for language/vocabulary. Dramatic action-movies help me get into the headspace for writing dramatic action scenes.

Then I'll post.

Alas, it no longer ends with OOPS, or at least the OOPS has been somewhat muted.

***ETA: The world is silly. I hit post, and IMMEDIATELY the ARMY OF CROWS which lives in my city descends on the eucalyptus trees over my patio and start arguing with the most deafening cacophony imaginable. There must be 50 of 'em. If they're still here in the morning when the parrots cruise by, I'm gonna need earplugs (except not, because they amuse me).

Pretty fan-art! And 'Advent Children' is so much fun - I love the various updated looks for the characters. Reno and Rude are so cute in it, too. And the fight vs Bahamut is my favorite part of the movie. [needs to go see my dvd again now.]

I've got the original Advent Children version already -- but I kinda wanted the Complete version, as much as anything because the subtitles on the original AC were UGLY yellow pixellated monstrosities. I always watch anime with subtitles, so having ugly subtitles on eye candy graphics offended me. From clips, it appears they have redone them with text smoothing.

Also, I've heard there's additional footage of Tifa fighting and a few other tidbits that I would love to see.

This will be my first viewing of something in Blu-ray. Let's see if I can tell the difference!

*comes back from picking up a sushi roll at my favorite take-out place, to enhance viewing experience*

I'm posting here so both you and Auronlu can see. This is quite frankly, awesome. It even reminds me of Auronlu's own style, and thus doubly fits into the world. The level of detail -- the flora! Lulu's belts! is astounding. Well done.

Beautiful painting. Love the contrast between the lushness and life of the flowers and death in the lower left corner.

Heh, gotta love some noisy birds. One of the simple things I always look forward to is when corn is harvested in the fall and flocks of crows descend to eat the fallen food. That rush of wings? Yeah, it's awesome. Just one of those things, ya know?

Thank you. The imagery comes from auronlu's brilliant mind: a lush garden with bones crunching underfoot.
