Hi, I'm here from your tumblr/website posts (have read your playthroughs up to now and I was really relieved that when you got to FFV you like it, since it's so common for that not to be so)!
As far as Tycoon goes, I don't think they're puppet rulers, since Lenna shuts down the Chancellor earlier and both she and her dad were acting quite independently... it's more that by this point he has lost a princess, a queen, and a king, so he's inclined to raise a stink about the monarchs running off into danger again.
Also, wow. The Void looks even more impressive with iOS graphics.
