Do Tidus and Chappu really resemble each other?

I got into a discussion with several people who said they couldn't see any resemblance between Tidus and Chappu in the actual game.

To me, I think they do look pretty similar, although not identical: Chappu's mouth is slightly wider, but depending on the lighting, you really can't see much difference if you swap their hair.

So I did a graphic comparison. I think they're using the same model-- Tidus' low-polygon model. Am I seeing things, or not?
