Good gods...
Nov. 23rd, 2006 12:55 amThomas Mann's Dr Faustus.
I read the whole book cover to cover in-- um-- 4 days. My head is very full. What an amazingly rich, intelligent, original, brilliant, profound, and sad work. Now, if only my German weren't nearly gone, I would hunt an original Text and try to tunnel my way through it.
Dante and Thomas Mann, Nietsche and Goethe all in the same quarter. That ought to give me at least some ideas about what better writing is than my poor cliché-ridden drivel!
