Drabble for cupcakemonster. After her fabulous Auron/Rikku story, this seems like a poor exchange, but she challenged me to write an A/R platonic scene a while back.
Not sure this is platonic. Hmmm.

"Soooo. Who aren't you visiting in there?"

Sir Auron peered at the Al Bhed jiggling on the balustrade of the steps leading up to Guadosalam's Farplane observation area. "Excuse me?"

"'I do not belong there'... oooOOOooo," Rikku quoted, imitating his gruff tones and wiggling her hands dramatically. "I guess you pissed off someone real bad, hunh?"

He stared at her. "No."

"No wonder you won't go in there. I can just see it. You don't talk. They don't talk. Booooring." She propped her chin on her hand, staring at him. "Are you sure don't have an honorary Farplane membership or something?"

Auron smirked.

That's just the type of Irony I live for! Characters captured beautifully (as always) and I can see Rikku getting annoyed with the fact that Auron smirks... that's if he lets her see it! I *needed* this after cupcakemonster broke my brain ^_^ Thank You!

(just kidding. I just noticed the slip in grammar, but "whom" sounds too formal on Rikku's lips.)

Oh Rikku. I hate "whom" myself. After years of formal literary training I should theoretically know how to use it and yet? I still mangle it, of course.

Those extra three words are there for me. It's good, as usual. Sweet, charming and sad. Like remembering a discontinued candy from your childhood.

Yeah, and I dunno, the more I think about it, the more dirty that smirk appears to be.

In a different world I can see Auron totally smexing her to get her mind off of where it's going. XD She's a smart cookie ... but maybe I am JUST DIRTY AND WANT SOME BAD NAUGHTY AURIKKU SEX RIGHT NOW.

My interpretation of that smirk was, "I did, but it got revoked." I deleted the sentence because Auron wouldn't give away that much info.

it's weird that we all see him as old. He's MY AGE. That I should look so good, aigh.

Of course, he does look like he's in his forties. Still a very fine specimen. When a man rather than a woman catches my eye, it's the exception to the rule.

Of course it's the voice. Voices slay me every time.
"I hope you know how to use it."
"I hope you hurt them."
That was all it took, with both of them. Gah.
