Huzzah, some of y'all are still with me.

This chapter was a bear, and I'm still not quite satisfied -- I must've written 10 different versions trying to get in all the things I needed to get in:

-- suitably magnificent/awful setting (outside and inside)
-- sinspawn crawling all over the place (they must've come off Sin in buckets during that battle, so I couldn't just have everyone standing around talking outside without anything chewing on them)
-- Crimson Squad reuniting (and Baralai [not]apologizing for nearly shooting N)
-- Vegnagun, yep, that plot is really and truly done
-- everybody gets to do/say something in character showing how they're relating to Big Stuff Going Down
-- saying goodbye without bogging it down too much (Lucil and Cid wound up on the cutting room floor)
-- comic relief to keep the grim from being too grim
-- important details like Isaaru having a hard time of it, Rikku's lightning phobia, Gippal reminding us of some backstory
-- Rikku sneaking off (oddly difficult to finesse --originally this all took place right in front of the airship)
-- battle sequences big and bold
-- planting a couple Checkov guns
-- Elma and Rikku kicking butt to balance our Damsel in Distress archetype
-- and dragging the camera back to Auron's POV, since he is the hero here.

Phew. Didn't succeed on all of it-- there is a little too much chatter-- but I think I finally got it all banged together. Now, thank gods, I get to work with four characters, funky ass dream sequences, angst and battle description. Now THAT I know how to do!
