Some months ago, I posted a comment in [livejournal.com profile] capslock_ff that wasn't capslocked. You know what the penalty is? One must create a Sephiroth/Barret fic or fanart as penance! Small wonder that I disappeared from fandom for months. So, anyway, in light of recent discussions, it seemed like it was time to pay my penalty.

Brace yourselves.

All right, folks! Thanks to our gormless erstwhile literary critic, we have a new slogan!

"Final Fantasy Fanfiction: Steamy & Ridiculous"

I challenge you to make an icon with this theme!

Here was my humble attempt. I know you can do better!

However, I did get a few good icons while trying to create the above montage.

But... WAIT! There's MORE!

[livejournal.com profile] sissyhiyah, this one's for you.

I started to reply to this nice little Fran/Balthier drabble by [livejournal.com profile] heaven_monument.

Then I got the urge to make an FFXII icon, since I didn't have one.

Then I was going to change the userpic on my last LJ post to the new icon.

Then I noticed something when I viewed the entry on its own page, in conjunction with my LJ's header:

OMFG
MY LJ SHIPS LULU AND FRAN'S BUTT

It even gave us a prompt: "Sin". See?

Now I want someone to write it.

Note: the deadline for the semi-annual Kimahri Finally Gets Some Lovin' Challenge fic-a-thon is June 20th-- tomorrow -- wow, the time crept up fast! Grab a muse, get silly, and post your level worst to the [livejournal.com profile] kimahri_love community.

auronlu: (bleeds)
I already spammed [livejournal.com profile] capslock_ff with too many Balthier's-VA-being-very-silly videos, so I'm spamming my own LJ.

And this one doesn't allow embedding, but you must see this -- MOVE ALL FLUIDS AWAY FROM KEYBOARD:
FINAL FANTASY X / AT THE WORLD'S END

Oh wait, here's a different Mashup with the same idea, better video editing. For [livejournal.com profile] logistika_nyx, with love, particularly the Balthier/Fran moment at the end:

Now I remember why I like this guy.

Excerpts from a 1995 interview in an issue The Advocate. You can read the rest here, where he also has a few pointed comments about the homophobia of the producers of Star Trek.
"Have you ever seen homoerotic fiction about Next Generation characters?" Patrick Stewart wants to know. It's a question that William Shatner, who played Stewart's Star Trek predecessor, Capt. James T. Kirk, would never have put to a journalist.

More excerpts... )

So, [livejournal.com profile] trekqueen, Patrick Stewart really may hear of you sooner or later!

I have a few icons for you and your readers who are getting a kick out of your panning in Cracked (please credit [livejournal.com profile] auronlu if you find 'em worth taking):

EDIT: Ack, I keep thinking of MORE of them!

For those who don't follow her adventures, [livejournal.com profile] trekqueen's Picard/Elrond crossover story, Sons of the Stars, was featured in a widely-Dugg list of "The Five Most Baffling Sex Scenes in the History of Fanfiction." The reviewer was especially baffled by the word "slacks." [Insert Freudian analysis here]

Dear Unconscious,

While it was somewhat amusing to wake to the hazy image of Susan looking for a highly visible place to write "Here, Kitty Kitty"in Spiran glyphs on an upper panel of Luca (or Dodger?) Stadium, it was NOT NECESSARY to add Ivanova/Kimahri to my mental list of plot bunnies.

auronlu: (kimahri)
For reasons best known to the Imp of the Perverse, [livejournal.com profile] trekqueen, I, and (?) (Cupcake, was that you?) were seized with insanity on 6/6/06 and spontaneously posted Kimahri pr0n.

We missed the date last year. This year, Trekqueen reminded me in time, and I've just written something all at one sitting that definitely should never see the light of day. However, in the name of tradition (and because that way she has to post hers), I will share it when the time comes.

In the meantime, I issue a challenge to the rest of the loony bin: please honor Kimahri with warm fuzzies on 6/6. Entries may be of any length; content must include Kimahri and sex. Remember to use the LJ adult content flag.

Because Kimahri never gets enough lovin'.

Please leave a link here. (Hopefully LJ isn't as stupid as ficwad, whose filtering system is bypassed if you direct link.)

FFX Funny fansub gallery

Unfortunately, I've had a request to do a similar gallery for X-2, and like a sucker, I think I will. It's hard for me to write or think while visiting my parents.

auronlu: (egads!)
For more silliness, please to be linking to my Final Fantasy Fractured Fansub, Part II gallery.

And in case you missed the first one, here's the link:

auronlu: (egads!)
Uh... Trekqueen... are the subtitles on that FFX DVD extraordinarily bad? Or have I managed to acquire a bad fansub trying to present itself as the real thing?

For example...

Tidus: Thinking and thinking. My mind has come to blank.

Or Auron being called "Yalong."

Or "Al Bhed" translated as "Albert Family."

Or this little gem:

Edit: Okay, this has GOT to be bad fansub. I'd be annoyed, except that I'm laughing so hard there's tears running down my face.

 Oh, and another good one!

It's utterly hilarious! I mostly got this to use for taking screencaps, so I don't mind the awful translation. But if it's this bad, I don't want suziq to see it as her first introduction to FFX.

On the other hand, this is going to make X-2 better than the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
auronlu: (dork)
... is evil. It reminds me of a bunch of guys making poo jokes with its repetitive sexual humor, and it shreds FFX unmercifully, but it manages to be wickedly entertaining. I hurt myself laughing. A lot. They have a way with words. Also, more importantly, they noticed that Lulu has a cerebellum despite the fanservice tits.

Edit: Oh yeah, the link to this site.

Of course, VGR's review of X-2, as far as it got, did my heart a world of good. I wish they'd finish it. For a brief moment of insanity I considered volunteering to help, then realized I would undo several years of therapy Also, some of you have helped me find enjoyment in parts of it, much like the Curate's Egg, and if I looked at it through a VGR lens I'd revert to my previous hate-with-great-hate assessment.

I wish I could remember all the things that made me laugh aloud (something I don't do often while reading). The only one I can remember is some line about Yuna dating poor mouse Baralai so she can teach him to wear his underwear UNDERNEATH his pants. Which doesn't seem that funny in retrospect. VGR is a bit like old Monty Python, wherein a 30-second clip isn't that funny, but the cumuluative effect of insanity is such that eventually you'll wheeze with laughter if a hedgehog rises over the top of a skyscraper and intones "Dinsdale."

Also... just because... [Screencap from X-2 which is NSFW]

... and I'm not even going to explain where I've been, save to say, I'M SORRY FOLKS!

Surgery is on Sept. 18th. Yeeeeeeek.

But anyway.

In atonement for being so absent, I have uncovered a... a... something.

I think this video explains precisely how Wakka and Lulu got together.

(warning: finish all beverages before clicking.)

Everything is so much clearer now.

auronlu: (fangirl)
Yet again, icon futzing while listening to the game.

ALSO, you have to see this hilariously well-done spoof of Y/R/P with Auron, Braska and Jecht in drag.

auronlu: (lightning)
Gah. Took a brief moment off from ten jillion things I should be doing to play, and discovered something wonderful.

I can't embed this video. Just go look. Listen. Shiver.

Lulu's Lullabye *EDIT* Mild FFX-2 spoiler.

The odd thing is that the music made my hair stand on end, because I have occasionally been the one doing the "loyalty... loyalty... loyalty..." harmony when it's being performed. It's by Heather Dale, my favorite bard in the Society for Creative Anachronism, and a very sweet lady who has given me much encouragement over the years.

She's really hot, too. *blush*

Back to the video. Lulu is obviously Morgana, Seymour is Mordred, Tidus and Yuna are Arthur and Guenevere (I think?)... any votes for the others?

ETA: WEEP! IT'S GONE! ARGH.
