I should've done a map ages ago. I have Spira's geography set in my head, but it's hard to remember if you haven't played for a while! And it's such a geography-based story, like the Lord of the Rings.

My ten years spent roleplaying Sepdet, a summoner-like character whose business was healing, magic and dealing with the spirits of the dead and of nature, has definitely shaped my view of spirits any time they show up in fandom.

In the game we see Bahamut's fayth enter into Yuna, and she collapses. Every time she comes out of a Chamber of the Fayth she seems shaken, as if she's acclimating to "carrying" another powerful spirit inside her. Kinda like some vaccines that make you slightly ill even as they boost your immune system with introduced material.

As I see, the aeons are stored (banked?) in the fayth statues in the temples, then summoners "withdraw" a portion of the spirit and house it in their own hearts. A bit like Babylon 5 when a piece of Kosh was riding around in Captain Sheridan.
